About Patty

Patricia Nelson is a self taught artist and has been drawing since she was 16. Patty as she is known to her family and friends draws mainly western oriented action scenes specializing in custom rodeo works. Though her main medium is pencil, she has done some work in coloured pencils, chalk pastels, acrylics, and pen, and has recently started experimenting with water colour pencils. Patty Was born in Nakusp, B.C., Canada, but moved to Alberta as a child where she continues to live with her family. Patty and her partner Troy Omstead share their 10 acre home with their four children: Eric, Amanda, Matthew, and Ty. Most of her works are based on a lifetime of working with and around horses, cattle, and the whole western way of life, including rodeo, which she still participates in during the summer, and all of the people involved in it. Her love of this way of life and all that goes with it is something that she tries to bring to her works and thus share them with you.
